Who We Are
MIRA is an all-volunteer, grassroots organization taking direct action to resist inhumane immigration enforcement and policy in our community--Washtenaw County, Michigan and surrounding area.

This is for reporting ICE sightings and when someone is arrested or detained.
Call or text anytime, 24/7. We prefer texts. Someone will contact you, ideally the same day for ICE sightings.
We will refer callers to WICIR (Washtenaw Interfaith Coalition for Immigrant Rights) for concrete needs such as legal referrals, court accompaniments, etc.
What We Do
Community Education
MIRA provides constitutional rights and shifting policy information directly to the immigrant community through “Know Your Rights” conversations. This action extends to campaigns targeting employers of immigrants such as business owners, and service providers seeking to protect immigrant families.
MIRA develops effective allies to the immigrant community through education that dispels myths, promotes facts, and furthers understanding of the impacts of immigration policy, from federal to local levels, on our immigrant families. This includes networking with existing organizations with similar missions to address the needs and rights of immigrants.
Local Police
MIRA advocates for immigrants with police agencies to develop local policing policy that resists participation with federal immigration enforcement and protects immigrant families. This includes follow-up on specific cases involving local police and courts.
Policymakers
MIRA advocates with local elected officials and key organizations to develop and uphold policy that supports immigrant families and resists the devastating effects of inhumane immigration enforcement.
